The source of Soča river
This is the place where the most beautiful & wild Slovene river comes to the surface. The crystal clear emerald waters burst out into daylight out of a small underground lake at the end of a narrow gorge in Zadnja Trenta valley. The playful river then creates an interesting 10-meter waterfall and countless smaller ones before it continues on its way down the Trenta valley. The path to the waterfall is short and easy; however, if you want to go all the way down to the river-bed, you have to cross an exposed steep slope, secured with steel cables. The rocky embrace at the source is fantastic!
Kekec homestead is a hidden treasure close to the source of Slovenian emerald beauty – the Soča river. At Kekec homestead you’ll be completely taken over by nature’s beauty and the warmth of one of the prettiest homesteads in Slovenia. Amidst green pastures and under high white mountains there is a true alpine paradise you will never want to leave. Indulge in the embrace of alpine cottages, splash in a small pool, visit the secluded mountains and spoil yourself with culinary delights from your hosts, Joži and Mitja.
Great Soča Gorge
Just above Lepena valley Soča river has carved 750 meters long gorge. The gorge is completely narrow at some points and its depth depends a lot on the water level: in the dry period it is up to 15 m deep, but at floodings Soča can fill it up completely. It is a nice and short walk along one of Slovenia’s natural pearls. The color of Soča is truly incredible.
Soča Valley’s de-facto capital, Bovec offers plenty for adventure-sports enthusiasts. With the Julian Alps above, the Soča River below and Triglav National Park all around, you could spend a week here rafting, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and, in winter, skiing, without ever doing the same thing twice.
Hotel Sanje ob Soči is a lovely new hotel that offers rooms and also various sizes apartments.
